The Worker Education & Resource Center, Inc. (WERC) was established in 2002 as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) entity to collaborate with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 on the Healthcare Workforce Development Program (HCWDP). The goal of this labor/management partnership is to provide educational opportunities that will improve both the personal and technical competencies of the DHS workforce, sustaining a positive work environment and, in turn, improving access to healthcare and the quality of patient care.
